Pulled to the side of US 26/191 to admire this spectacular scene. Cottonwoods and conifers dotted the Snake River valley at the Teton Range's base. Their jagged peaks soared into the afternoon sky under the golden Sun. The beauty overwhelmed me, bringing me to my knees in tears. https://t.co/Pk2B4odBIg

Turquoise hot springs dot the landscape of Yellowstone NP. Their deep color is due to the purity and depth of the sediment-free spring water. Along the edges, heat-loving microorganisms thrive, with colors ranging from yellow to deep red based on temp, chemistry, and sunlight. https://t.co/DIpkPECBHg

Clepsydra Geyser is aptly named after the Greek "klepsydra": a water clock. It's located in a cluster of hydrothermal features in the Lower Geyser Basin of Yellowstone NP. Geysers form when superheated underground water escapes to the surface like steam bursting from a teapot. https://t.co/idGyuW0yPy

Yellowstone NP is filled with hidden falls for those hiking deep in its backcountry. But, for those short on time, Gibbon Falls is an ideal introduction. This impressive 84-ft. cascade and its canyon give day visitors a powerful, yet accessible, glimpse of Yellowstone’s beauty. https://t.co/HnJcuMViEE

The Nauset Bike Trail leads us to Coast Guard Beach, at the foot of the unassuming former Coast Guard Station. The massive dunes along the Cape Cod National Seashore are truly something to behold, with the shoreline receding into their mists. Definitely a Cape Cod favorite. https://t.co/XDEIL2KN1O

The iconic Eastham Windmill, just a block from the Cape Cod Rail Trail on Samoset Rd., has been a source of pride for the town for generations. It was originally built in 1680 and was moved to Eastham, MA in 1793. It is celebrated annually at the Eastham Windmill Weekend. https://t.co/TRLcRuIJUL

The Old Colony Rail Trail continues through Harwich, MA, the anchor of the Lower Cape. It's filled with picturesque harbors (Wychmere), Nantucket Sound beaches (Bank St. Beach), cranberry bogs, and small town charm. My favorite part is Harwichport and Dr. Gravity's Kite Shop, https://t.co/7aDRkWhwVY

Along with Barnstable (Hyannis) and Falmouth (Woods Hole), Yarmouth is one of the most populated towns in Cape Cod. The Rail Trail runs right through its center. The primary tourist areas are along Rte 28 in the south. Beaches, mini-golf, salt water taffy... all the fun stuff. https://t.co/nRI1po8ArC

Continuing along the Nat'l Florida Scenic Trail, I reached Taylor Creek. Sounds like a wine 🍷, doesn't it? It's a sleepy community and marina, named after Pres. Zachary Taylor. These homes represent the lifelong work and goals of the residents. They were drawn to retire here, https://t.co/JZDej5jNb8

Lake Okeechobee is surrounded by the Herbert Hoover Dike, built in the 1930s as flood control, and expanded in the 1960s. The levees are 30-ft. high, providing wonderful views of the lake and surrounding region along the National Florida Scenic Trail. Loved the canal-side cows! https://t.co/IELAVfsHmD

Up ahead! it's the last bridge across the River of Dreams. Now is the time for those on the banks to pick a side. Once the river passes under here, there's no more chance to switch. Well, okay... there's a ferry downstream. The point is: we're approaching the river's ocean end. https://t.co/uATPBKIE4r
